What kind of anesthesia is used for colon surgery?
Usually colon surgery is done with the patient under general anesthesia, especially if it is done as minimally invasive surgery. The patient usually has an endotracheal tube (breathing tube) placed prior to beginning of surgery. This is to protect the patient's airway.
