Is binge eating in adolescent children normal?
I don’t have enough information to answer completely. Is he on medication? Is he obese? Does he skip meals then binge? Does he have anxiety which triggers him to binge? Does he purge (vomit afterward)? What does he “binge” on? Is there a family history of eating disorder? In other words, it could be ok if he needs the extra calories, but likely represents a concern, likely psychologic (anxiety) or an eating disorder. READ MORE

It should be quite a while until menstruation however. READ MORE

There is no cure for acne, and it exists over a wide spectrum. Some people may be offended by mild acne, and others won’t care at all. The goal is two: 1) make the adolescent comfortable with the acne and its treatment, 2) try to prevent scarring. If you have tried OTCs then it is time to see your doctor. READ MORE
My son gets very anxious and even begins to panic. What could be the reason?
Your son is suffering from anxiety, and it's not the environment that makes him anxious, it's how he relates to his environment. He should definitely receive counseling and learn how to manage his world. Visualizing his experience prior to the encounter can help as well. If counseling doesn't work for him, there are medications which might help. Keep him involved in athletics which can boost his self esteem, and this may not be team sports, but individual accomplishments. READ MORE
