Plastic Surgeon Dr. Steve Laverson serves patients in San Diego, California.

A respected plastic surgeon for over 25 years with unsurpassed credentials, Dr. Laverson’s passion is for natural beauty, no appearance or indication of cosmetic surgery. He has operated Feel Beautiful Aesthetic Clinic in San Diego, California since 1993.

Deeply caring for each of his patients, Dr. Laverson utilizes an artistic sense and masterful surgical skill to achieve desired aesthetic goals. Specializing in aesthetic improvement of the face, body, breast, and skin, he is well-known both locally and internationally for his work with rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty, face lift, neck lift, eyes, anti-aging, lip augmentation and lip enhancement, breast augmentation, breast lift, tummy tuck, labiaplasty, and body contouring.

To help women and men enjoy their most confident life, he offers comprehensive aesthetic evaluation and treatment, both surgical and nonsurgical. His broad knowledge and superior technical skills support his ability to convert vision into reality, and his mature operative judgment is the product of vast procedural experience. Combined with these assets, his peerless ethical standards and deep compassion make Dr. Laverson a professional one can trust with their most valuable possessions – face and body.

Known as an artist even before high school, he attended the United States Naval Academy on a Congressional Appointment from 1975-77, and graduated first in his class at the University of Maryland in 1979. At the University of Maryland School of Medicine, he decided that plastic surgery was the best fit for his artistic ability and for his love of beauty.

Not one to abide short cuts, after medical school Dr. Laverson trained in general surgery and plastic surgery as an intern, resident, and fellow for ten years. He learned and operated at many esteemed institutions with great surgeons at University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins, University of Pennsylvania, Emory, UCLA, USC, Stanford, and other respected centers. He attributes his strong surgical confidence and technical skill to lessons absorbed during those years, in particular, his chief residency in general surgery at Martin Luther King Jr. General Hospital in South Central Los Angeles. This experience was a crucible for the development of broad applied anatomical and physiologic knowledge, mature surgical judgment, technical excellence, and a sound foundation for a lifetime of intangible professional confidence and expertise that is not widely available.

Participating in the American Board of Plastic Surgery Maintenance of Certification Program annually, Dr. Laverson is board-certified through the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). The mission of the ABPS is to promote safe, ethical, efficacious plastic surgery to the public by maintaining high standards for the education, examination, certification, and continuous certification of plastic surgeons as specialists and subspecialists.

Furthermore, he is board-certified through the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS serves the public and the specialty of surgery by providing leadership in surgical education and practice, by promoting excellence through rigorous evaluation and examination, and by promoting the highest standards for professionalism, lifelong learning, and the continuous certification of surgeons in practice.

Combining natural artistic sensibility, broad scientific knowledge, perfectionistic standards, and unsurpassed technical skill, Dr. Laverson has held a variety of clinical and administrative positions at local hospitals. He has also contributed to peer-reviewed journals such as Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Aesthetic Surgery Journal, New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, Journal of Trauma, and others.

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), he is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. 

With a commitment to service, Dr. Laverson is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Femininity Foundation. It is a federally designated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery services to promote rehabilitation and recovery for unfunded adult victims of violence and physical abuse.

Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. It can be divided into two main categories – reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery. A plastic surgeon’s primary responsibility is performing surgical and non-surgical procedures, and they use a variety of reparative and reconstructive techniques to get the job done. 

Locally and internationally well-known for his work with rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty, Dr. Laverson’s research interests include aesthetic improvements of face, breasts, and body. He attributes his success to natural inherited abilities, traditional relentless work ethic, observation and education from others, a strong devotion to service, and the promotion of  interests and well-being of others.
