  • Migraines and Chiropractic!

Migraines happen to be the third most common illness globally, with nearly 1 in 8 individuals suffering from it at any given time. Because of this high prevalence, it’s important to identify solutions to the problem. One such solution is chiropractic care. Contrary to popular belief,...

  • Should I see a chiropractor for a slipped disc?

A Chiropractor is a conservative physician who would be able to assess your disc. However, an MRI would be highly advised to truly diagnose the problem. Depending on the severity of the slipped disc, a Chiropractor could help. However, we often work with other medical professionals to make sure Chiropractic is indicated for your case. READ MORE

  • What sleeping position is best for your back?

All depends. Patients who are over weight and suffer from sleep apnea may not do well with sleeping on their back. Sleeping on your stomach can often put too much rotation on the neck causing more pain overall. I often tell patients... whatever allows you to sleep comfortably is the best position. Never compromise your sleep trying to figure out what the best position really is. READ MORE

  • What is the fastest home remedy for back pain?

Well we have to figure out what the real cause of the back pain is. Is it a disc issues? Is it ligament laxity issue? Is it a muscle issue? Once a proper evaluation is performed we could answer this questions better. Most likely at age 23, if no direct trauma to the lower back is determined most likely could be a muscle issue. READ MORE

  • Can chiropractors reverse scoliosis?

Depending on the severity... ABSOLUTELY! I have seen specific Chiropractors who specialize in "Pettibon" who have done this. They will do a proper evaluation and x-rays to determine the severity of scoliosis and I have seen with my own eyes working with these chiropractors a reduction of scoliosis. However, to each their own. Depends on the patient and their severity once again. Nothing is ever guaranteed. READ MORE

  • Can a chiropractor help with my neck pain?

I see this on a daily basis. All depends on the severity of your pain and a proper evaluation and possibly imaging to determine what the real problem really is. Conservative care would be adjustments and adding passive therapies such as Electric Stim, Ice/Heat, and other chiropractic modalities. This is making sure your condition can be treated conservatively. Need a proper diagnosis. READ MORE

  • Is there something wrong with my joints?

Most cases it is not the Joint that is the problem but rather the ligaments that hold it in place. When you have weakness of Ligaments and Tendons... it will create a very weak structure. Clicking in joints usually means there is some sort of weakness in the structure of the joint. Proper evaluation and imaging would be necessary to rule this. READ MORE

  • What is the best way to correct posture?

I would read more on Upper Cross Syndrome and Lower Cross Syndrome. When you combine adjustments with stretching of tight muscles and strengthening of the weaker muscles... that will usually help the most. Consider a Chiropractor who specializes in Pettibon or CBP. They are known for postural correction. Need a proper evaluation prior to any treatments. READ MORE

  • How should I lay with lower back pain?

At age 15 it depends why you have back pain? This is definitely a young age for having back pain which can range from simple muscle weakness to more severe diagnosis. You would need a proper evaluation and possibly imaging to rule out why the back pain exists in the first place. READ MORE

  • How should you lay with a slipped disc?

There are a variety of "slipped discs". An MRI, would specifically diagnose what kind of slipped disc you have. We would need to know if it is a Disc Bulge, Disc Protrusion, Disc Extrustion, etc etc. So hard to answer this question unless a proper diagnosis through proper evaluation and imaging are determined. READ MORE

  • Why is my knee hurting when I bend it?

Often knees (unless have direct contact or arthritis) the problem usually arises from the Gluteal muscles and/or the feet. The knees don't have much support and only ligaments hold the structure together. Therefore if you have a weakness in your feet or Gluteal muscles, this can put most pressure on the knee. Definitely seek a proper evaluation and imaging to figure out where the problem is truly coming from. READ MORE

  • How do you know if you need a neck adjustment?

Several factors account for this. According to guidelines we look at 3 out of 4 factors to be present. Acronym is PART according to Medicare Guidelines. This in addition to a comprehensive subjective history + objective history performed by the Chiropractor creates an Assessment and/or Diagnosis where we can create a treatment plan accordingly. 1. Pain 2. Asymmetry 3. Decreased Range of Motion 4. Taut/Tender Fibers READ MORE

  • What type of mattress is best for side sleepers with back pain?

You can read my post about this on my website! Chawlachiropract.com. Then go under blogs :) READ MORE

  • Should I workout with shoulder pain?

Several factors must be evaluated. Have to make sure you don't have any fractures within the shoulder or major tears of the musculature and ligaments. Examination would be warranted to rule out major issues but I have had patients go back to working out after several appointments adjusting the neck, midback, and shoulders. Then loosening up the musculature guarding around it. READ MORE

  • What does it feel like when frozen shoulder unfreezes?

This is one of the diagnosis I personally like to work with Physical Therapy on. You have to work on manipulating the joint and breaking down the adhesions for proper range of motion. When frozen shoulder unfreezes you get less pain, more range of motion, less compensation of guarding muscles, and mental stability. READ MORE

  • What is good for knee pain?

What a lot of people don't realize is that unless you sprain/strained your knee or fractured you knee, majority of your knee pain can come from asymmetry of the hip musculature, low back musculature, and even imbalance of your feet. Come for an examination and we can check it out! READ MORE

  • How do you stretch a shoulder impingement?

Shoulder impingement is a very broad category. In most cases, you have to stretch guarded muscles that are too tight and strengthen muscles that are too weak. READ MORE

  • Is massage effective for shoulder impingement?

I often couple chiropractic adjustments and therapies with massage. I don't personally have a massage therapist within my office but fortunate enough to have a few within the building my office is located. READ MORE
