Get to know Hematologist and Oncologist Dr. Yehuda Lebowicz, who serves the population of New York. Board certified and Fellowship trained Dr. Lebowicz currently practices as a Hematologist and Oncologist with Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center, as well as an Assistant Professor with Marshall University. The staff of the Medical Oncology Program at the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center is committed to improving the diagnosis and treatment of adult patients with cancer. Medical oncologists, physicians with special training and experience in diagnosis and treatment of a wide spectrum of malignant diseases, plan cancer treatments involving the use of chemotherapy, hormonal agents and/or biological therapy in the management of cancer. At the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center, medical oncologists care for their patients from diagnosis throughout the course of the disease by educating patients about their cancer and the stages of its development, discussing treatment options and making recommendations and monitoring the care and treatment of the patient. Dr. Lebowicz graduated with his Medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine in 2002, giving him over two decades of experience in his field. After obtaining his medical degree he completed his residency and fellowship with the Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Lebowicz is dual-certified in Medical Oncology and Hematology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Since its founding in 1936 to answer a public call to establish more uniform standards for physicians, Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) has stood for the highest standard in internal medicine and its 20 subspecialties. Certification has meant that internists have demonstrated – to their peers and to the public – that they have the clinical judgment, skills and attitudes essential for the delivery of excellent patient care. To stay up to date in his field, he remains a professional member of the American Medical Association, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine, and the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine.
