A graduate of George Washington School of Medicine in 2003, Dr. Cooperman went on to complete a General Surgery residency at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. His surgical training continued with a residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Louisville where he worked with renowned specialists in all disciplines of plastic surgery. He specifically focused his education on facial rejuvenation, breast reconstruction, and microsurgery. 

After his graduation, Dr. Cooperman went on to become board certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. The ABPS is one of 24 medical specialty boards that make up the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). Through ABMS, the boards work together to establish common standards for physicians to achieve and maintain board certification. The boards were founded by their respective specialties to protect the public by assessing and certifying doctors who meet specific educational, training, and professional requirements. 

A recognized surgeon, Dr. Cooperman has been recognized as a U.S. News and World Report Top Doc in 2012, and awarded the Clinical Excellence Award in 2010 by the University of Louisville Division of Plastic Surgery, the Excellence in Clinical Education Award in 2008 by the University of Louisville, and the Dennis R. Filippone Chairman’s Award in 2005 by St. Barnabas Medical Center.
