Get to know Ophthalmologist Dr. M. Pierre Pang, who serves patients throughout the State of Hawaii.
A renowned ophthalmologist, Dr. Pang sees patients at his private practice – Pacific Eye Surgery Center, Inc. – with offices in Honolulu and Waipahu, Hawaii. He methodically and skillfully identifies individual problems to find solutions for even the most complex disorders affecting a patient’s vision. Both of his offices are equipped with state-of-the art scans, ultrasound machines, cameras and lasers.
The doctor treats potentially blinding diseases such as retinal detachments, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration and retinal vein occlusions, as well as general eye disorders such as complex cataracts needing special treatment for astigmatism. For patients unable to see clearly, he offers state-of-the art femto laser cataract surgery with multifocal intraocular lenses, which reduces one’s dependence on glasses.
With a broad educational background, Dr. Pang earned his medical degree from Tulane University. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, and his fellowship in vitreoretinal disease/surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
As a testament of his continued education, he is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.
Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. Ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and may perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery.
