The mission of West Virginia University Cancer Institute is to provide excellent care to patients and their families while strengthening research, education, and service programs to address the cancer health disparities unique to the state of West Virginia and Appalachia.
Since 1995, Dr. Auber has been serving as an Associate Professor within the Hematology / Oncology Section, Department of Medicine at the West Virginia University School of Medicine.
He is a member of the West Virginia State Medical Association, the West Virginia Oncology Society, and a Life member of Kingston National Registry of Who’s Who (published in the 2002 Edition – National Registry No. 183562).
In regards to his educational background, Dr. Auber received his Baccalaureate – Maturity degree from Apaczai Csere Janos High School in 1971, followed by his medical degree from Semmelweis Medical University in Budapest, Hungary in 1977.
His postgraduate/postdoctoral education was as a clinical pharmacology fellow with the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston (1981), as an internal medicine resident at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport (1984), and as a medical oncology fellow at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (1988).
During Dr. Auber’s academic and professional career, he received several awards, the most recent being the “2016 Awards of Excellence” of the WVU Cancer Institute and WVU Medicine Cancer Service Line (2017), in addition to having several publications/abstracts/research clinical trials and grant support to his credit.
As a testament to his success, the doctor is board-certified internal medicine and medical oncology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
