Established in 1825, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital currently has 957 licensed acute care beds, with major programs in a wide range of clinical specialties. The university hospital is well known for a number of programs, including orthopaedics, heart disease, cancer, and liver transplants, among others. It is one of the few hospitals in the United States that is recognized as both a Regional Level 1 Trauma Center and as a federally-recognized Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center. Jefferson internists provide specialized care in: geriatrics, women’s and men’s special health needs, and urgent health needs including problems of the eyes, ears, skin, nervous system, and reproductive organs. 

Alongside his clinical role, Dr. Lau serves as an Assistant Professor of Medicine within the Division of Internal Medicine at Sidney Kimmel Medical College. The Division of Internal Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University is home to more than 40 outstanding full, part-time, and volunteer internal medicine/primary care physicians and advanced practice providers. The diverse and well-accomplished team of experts work closely together to provide innovative and compassionate care to the local community.

With a knack for helping people, Dr. Lau decided to enter into the field of medicine, earning his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. He then went on to complete his internship at Drexel University College of Medicine, followed by his residency in internal medicine at Hahnemann University Hospital.

Shortly thereafter, the doctor became board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
