Dr. Russo is a board-certified, fellowship-trained diagnostic radiologist specializing in breast imaging. In his role at Redan Imaging Consultants, LLC, he looks forward to putting his experience toward breast center development, ambassadorship for valuable imaging tools, while continuing clinical practice.
“The value of mammography is something that has been illustrated to me on a personal level. Back in the 80s, when breast cancer awareness and mammography were in their infancy, a close family member lost her battle. Fast forward to our system today – another family member took advantage of St. Luke’s digital screening mammography, discovered a small cancer, and had it completely removed. These experiences motivate me to actively get the message out there promoting the power of breast imaging” expressed the doctor.
His acclaimed educational journey began after he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1994. He then went on to obtain his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine in 1998.
Furthering his training, Dr. Russo completed his internship, residency, and fellowship at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in 1999, 2003, and 2004, respectively.
Maximizing the quality and efficiency of the patient experience, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The goal remained providing convenient appointments for patients’ annual screening mammograms and exemplary service at their Regional Breast Centers for patients faced with the anxiety of callbacks or biopsies.
His clinical career at St. Luke’s, a GE show site, has allowed for extensive experience in 3-D and contrast enhanced mammography, automated breast ultrasound, breast MRI as well as numerous biopsy techniques. Dr. Russo’s special interest has been the development of breast centers and screening algorithms personalized to risk and breast density.
Continuously advancing his efforts, he is an active member of the American Roentgen Ray Society, the Society for Breast Imaging, the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, the Pennsylvania Radiological Society (on the Breast Imaging Committee), the American Medical Association, and the International Society for Clinical Densitometry.
