Mahmood El Gasim, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in diseases and treatment of the retina and vitreous and treatment of uveitis, inflammatory eye conditions that can be associated with underlying systemic disease.
Dr. El Gasim attended Duke University, where he received the Angier B. Duke scholarship, the University’s most prestigious merit-based award. After graduating magna cum laude, he received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He then completed advanced training in ophthalmology at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he served as Chief Resident. During his training, Dr. El Gasim was awarded the Austen T. Gray Memorial Scholarship, which recognizes a single ophthalmology resident for overall excellence and the delivery of exceptional patient-care. Prior to joining Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center, Dr. El Gasim completed specialized training in retina and uveitis at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
Dr. El Gasim continues to be engaged in scientific and clinical research. His research has been awarded and his findings have been considered to be of high interest to the vision and ophthalmology research community.
Dr. El Gasim remains dedicated to providing the highest quality of care and creating long-term relationships with each of his patients. When he’s not helping patients, he likes traveling and spending time with his wife, family, and friends.
