Get to know Neurologist Dr. Jonathan A. Garza, who serves patients in Houston, Texas.

Being a practicing neurologist, Dr. Garza serves as the Chief of Neurology at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in Houston, Texas, which he joined in August of 2008. “​I believe in healing through smart medicine, compassion, and empathy.” he stated. 

Kelsey-Seybold Clinic provides convenient access to skilled and compassionate care through 24​ multispecialty care centers and a specialized sleep center. Their goal is to deliver high-quality and comprehensive medical care with a dose of old-fashioned caring and personal attention.

Passionate about his profession, Dr. Garza is board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists. 

After earning his medical degree from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City in 2003, he went on to complete his internship in internal medicine and his residency in neurology at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

To date, the doctor remains a member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Neurology, and the Harris County Neurological Society. He is affiliated with Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston.

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurologists are licensed medical specialists who diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. They examine a patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.

Among his numerous awards and recognitions, Dr. Garza is the recipient of / has been named: President’s Scholar at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas; Dean’s Scholar at The University of Texas at Austin; Tier 1 of Alpha Phi Omega; Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society; Golden Key National Honor Society; NIH Research Project, Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, Neurological Institute: Center for Movement Disorders; Scholarship from the Gladys Brooks Foundation; Arnold P. Gold Humanism In Medicine Honor Society; and Chief Resident for the Department of Neurology Residency Program.

When not caring for patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. In his spare time, he also enjoys reading, rock climbing, and traveling with his family.
