Why does my back always hurt?
Need more info, but to answer the question as stated, it could be a thousand different things. When you do a history and consult with practitioner, it usually comes out as to what most likely caused your pain, then do tests (Xray, scan , exam, etc) can usually nail down what is causing your current pain and whether it is fix-able or manageable. Considering your youth, you should get with practitioner that sees a lot of same conditions. If fix-able, fix it! If not, decide the best way to manage it, otherwise these things can worsen with age. How often should you see a chiropractor for neck pain?
Some cases can be very similar, many are factored differently. By that I mean mild cases of neck sprain/strain and/or subluxation (Mis-alignment) may involve minimal treatments, do your recommended excel uses, and see the chiropractor as-needed. That would depend on how faithful you do the excercises, how much stress you come under. So basically, you see the chiro. as-needed, which in that case would be infrequent to none, depending on how your neck feels. On the other side, if your neck problem involves subluxation of a long duration, degenerative arthritis (osteoarthritis) and maybe poor posture, then after you’ve received rehab (corrective treatment), then you’d be wise to see the chiropractor on a maintenance basis, think of it as a periodic oil change that you do regularly so your car lasts longer with fewer to no repairs. Our body is just a living “machine”. That might be once-a-month, or every 2 or 3 months, depending on your need. After having your condition corrected/rehabbed, ask your chiropractor this: “Dr, if I were were an immediate member of your family, what frequency of maintenance care would you recommend for me”? Sorry to be so long winded on my answer, but the answer to your question has a lot of circumstances to consider, and every case should be analyzed individually. I can share with you that I personally visit my chiropractor once a week, for a maintenance treatment. I’ve done this for over 20 years. If I do that, what does that tell you about the benefit of regular chiropractic care. Now I realize that that frequency wouldn’t be practical for everyone, but it’s like a massage, you can’t over do it, but you can under do it and miss the benefits. In my personal case I have a lot of degenerative arthritis and a well aligned spine will continue to wear and degenerate with age, a well adjusted spine will wear and degenerate slower. A spine that’s misaligned, will wear/degenerate faster and you will have to live there in that body till you die. READ MORE
Why does my lower back crack?
The sound you hear is called “crepitus”. That is the sound that is made by the normal articulating sound of our joints. It is considered normal as long as there is no pain or discomfort. If discomfort is present, see a chiropractor or physical therapist, as they are the ones that deal with that most. READ MORE
Is chiropractic treatment safe for babies?
Congrats, your 3 year old is a child. I have treated numerous infants and 1,2 and 3 year olds and older. The treatment is different from adults in that it is much more gentle and a different type of adjusting due to their bones having the growth plate non fused yet. I get better results with kids than adults. Kids haven’t been “beat-up” with life yet and they respond faster. READ MORE
Can you see a chiropractor after cervical fusion?
I have worked with a number patients that had two or more spinal joints fused by surgery. Since those areas are no longer movable, I treat above or below that area and have good results. Therapies also are helpful in these cases. READ MORE
Can a chiropractor help with bad posture?
The answer is yes, in many cases. The better results are obtained with early intervention. Have your child examined and evaluated soon as possible as postures become more permanent as time progresses. Of course I would say that about cases I see. If you drop a match onto the carpet, it’s easiest handled by simply stepping it out. End of story. If you drop the match and watch the fire grow, the longer you wait, the harder job you’ll have of neutralizing the threat. Always think “Early Intetvention” READ MORE
Can a chiropractor help with leg numbness?
If the numbness in the leg is rooted in the spine such as a misalignment of a bone, that can be helped or corrected by Chiropractic treatment. If it is because of a vascular problem, that may be handled better by a vascular specialist. Either one of those practitioners should be able to help you narrow down what is causing the numbness, then it’s simple to apply the appropriate therapy/treatment. If your condition is not urgent, get several opinions. Start with your primary doctor, as they can help you decide if the condition is medically urgent, such as a blood clot, deep vein thrombosis, as that may require emergency approach. Please have this quickly evaluated. Early Intervention ! READ MORE
How long will sciatica take to heal?
To answer that accurately, I need more info/data. Such as, how long have you had it? What caused it? Was it a trauma injury, fall or came on gradually or sudden. That is probably the most common condition I see as a chiropractor over 40 years. Chiropractors get good results if the sciatica is from a structural cause in the spine. Start with a consult/exam, weight-bearing (standing up) c-rays May be needed. In complicated cases, even a lumbar MRI may be used to confirm disc involvement or not. READ MORE
How do I relieve sciatic nerve pain?
If very mild and recently started, rest and stretching exercises may resolve it. If not, more in-depth evaluation may be indicated. Chiropractors and Physical Therapists both get good results with simple sciatica. READ MORE
How do you know if your sciatic nerve is pinched?
My approach is to consult with patient about their health and history of this and how did it start. Some patients know exactly when it started and what seemed to cause or start it. Some cases need x-rays. Others may respond to therapy, manipulation and focused exercises. Some of these cases seem to have started gradually over time and are hard to find the etiology or cause. Other cases need MRI scan beyond the x-rays to help narrow down if a disc(s) is to blame. Then the practitioner can decide if this patient would respond to conservative care or may need to be evaluated for possible surgery. READ MORE
What should I avoid if I have sciatica?
Obviously, any function or movement that causes the symptoms to worsen , should be avoided. If you have suffered for any length of time, you will usually know what things to avoid. If you do this and it stays same or worsens, please go get evaluated. Early intervention always pays off. READ MORE
How do I know if I have sciatica or hip pain?
Typically, it may start as pain or ache in the lower back on one or both sides. It becomes sciatica when it radiates down either leg as a deep “tooth ache” pain. Some cases can even have numbness or tingling in the leg. Other cases may be described as a deep burning pain that makes it difficult to remain still. It’s sad to see cases that started as mild and could have been handled easily, turn in to surgical cases that may be avoided. READ MORE
What causes pain in your hip and down your leg?
Several causes: A piriformis muscle can be tight or spastic and put pressure on the sciatic nerve that runs down your leg. Lower vertebra in the lumbar spine (low back) can subluxate ( be one out of its normal alignment ) and this can result in sciatica pain running down the leg. Disc may bulge or even herniate which is similar to a knot on a bicycle tire. This can case pressure on the lumbar spinal nerve root(s) that can result in leg pain Caution!! If you have sciatica and you begin to lose urine or bowel control, or your leg “gives away” when going down stairs, this could be a serious sign. Get to your doctor quickly! READ MORE
Can chiropractors adjust your ribs?
Yes, ribs can be adjusted manually or with adjusting instruments. In my practice, I see this quite commonly. READ MORE
What does it mean when a chiropractor says you have a rib out?
Although the ribs can come loose in the front where they attach to the sternum (breast bone). This is less common. More commonly the ribs misalign or subluxate in the back where the ribs articulate with the spine on left and right side. READ MORE
Can a rib pop back into place?
I actually had that happen to myself. A seatbelt during a motor vehicle accident can cause this to happen as can other traumas. It’s rare that ribs go back into place by themselves, but it can happen. READ MORE
Can a chiropractor adjust a child's rib pain?
Yes, if it’s coming from alignment issue in the spine where the ribs articulate with the spinal column. It’s less common that a child that age would have a rib lesion since they are more flexible than when older. I have successfully treated a case like that, but it’s less common READ MORE
