Alongside his clinical practice, Dr. Singares is a Clinical Professor at the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. In the past, he was the Director of the Surgical ICU at the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System, an Attending Surgeon with the Advocate Health Care System, and an Adjunct Professor of Surgery at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the Chicago Surgical Society, he is a proud member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the Association for Academic Surgery.
Academically, Dr. Singares earned his medical degree from Universidad de Panama Faculty of Medicine in 1994. He then went on to complete residencies in advanced gastrointestinal surgery and minimally invasive surgery at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 2001 and 2004, respectively. Finally, he completed a fellowship in surgical critical care at Stony Brook University Hospital in 2005.
Licensed to practice medicine in Washington, Illinois and New York, the doctor is board-certified in both surgery and surgical critical care by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.
