Originally from Egypt, Dr. Kostandy graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ain Shams University in 1975, and his medical degree from Ain Shams University, Faculty of Medicine in 1981. He stayed at the university to complete a rotating internship, after which he relocated to the United States to continue his medical education. 

There, he performed an internship at Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado and a residency program at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.

Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Kostandy is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

A Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), the doctor is also an active member of the Egyptian Medical Syndicate, the American Society of Internal Medicine, the American Medical Association, the New York State Society for Internal Medicine, and the American Federation for Medical Research.

Among his other positions, Dr. Kostandy serves as an Assistant Attending Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, and as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University.
