Providing a supportive and compassionate environment, some of the conditions that he treats include: mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, and suicide prevention), psychotic disorders (schizophrenia), and anxiety disorders (social phobia, PTSD, general anxiety disorders, and obsessive compulsive disorder).

Regarding his educational background, Dr. Ferrans graduated with his medical degree from the Tulane University School of Medicine in 1989. He then went on to serve his residency in psychiatry at the University of Maryland.

The doctor is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders.
