Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Gonzalez is a board-certified neurologist who, in addition to his affiliation with Doctors Hospital of Sarasota, practices at Intercoastal Medical Group in Sarasota, Florida.

After earning his undergraduate degree and his medical degree from the Pontifical Xavierian University in Bogotá, Colombia, Dr. Gonzalez relocated to the United States. There, he completed his residency at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. in 2006, followed by his fellowship in movement disorders at the same educational venue in 2008.

A member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Heart Association, the doctor is board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurologists are licensed medical specialists who diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients.
