Back in 1972, Dr. Doctor graduated with his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from the Medical College of Baroda. He then went on to perform his residency in general surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in 1974, and two fellowships in urology at Montefiore Medical Center in 1975 and 1977, respectively.
In 1979, he attained board certification in urology through the American Board of Urology (ABU). The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, as well as to work with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care.
Licensed to practice medicine in New York, Dr. Doctor is affiliated with Long Island Jewish Valley Stream and Long Island Jewish Forest Hills.
Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, urethra, ureters, kidneys, and adrenal glands.
