Get to know Anesthesiologist Dr. Faiz Nasser, who serves patients in Houston, Texas.

Helping in the management of pain control during surgical procedures, Dr. Nasser is a practicing anesthesiologist who can be found on staff at Houston Methodist Hospital. He may perform different procedures like epidural block, conscious sedation, and general anesthesia to provide various levels of sedation or anesthesia.

Houston Methodist Hospital is the flagship hospital of Houston Methodist. Located in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas, Houston Methodist Hospital was established in 1919 during the height of the Spanish influenza epidemic as an outreach ministry of Methodist Episcopal Church. In regards to his educational background, Dr. Nasser graduated with his medical degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. He then went on to perform his internship and residency in urology at the University of Arizona, followed by his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

Experienced in tending to patients undergoing surgery, he is board-certified in anesthesiology and pediatric anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology. 

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery. In addition to basic measurements such as pulse, blood pressure, and temperature, they measure the patient’s respiration.
