Get to know Emergency Physician Dr. Edward Lucas, who serves patients throughout the State of Florida.

Dr. Lucas, a distinguished figure in emergency medicine, holds a plethora of titles and responsibilities across various healthcare institutions. Since 2007, he has been an esteemed Emergency Department Staff Physician at UF Health The Villages Hospital in South Florida. 

Playing a pivotal role in the development and operation of the MedOne Health Center, Dr. Lucas caters to the healthcare needs of the Ocala Community, a position he has held since 2006. His commitment extends further as he attends to patients at Icon Medical Centers in Miami.

Having graduated from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 1981, Dr. Lucas pursued his residency in emergency medicine at the same institution from 1981 to 1984.

As a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, he remains connected to the latest advancements and best practices in emergency medicine. Additionally, his recognition as a Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) highlights his commitment to maintaining high standards in his practice. The ABEM certifies emergency physicians who meet its educational, professional, and examination standards.

Emergency medicine, also known as accident and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. An emergency physician is a physician who works at an emergency department to care for acutely ill or injured patients. They care for unscheduled and undifferentiated patients of all ages.

Attributing his success to being self-taught and proactive, Dr. Lucas continues to inspire others with his dedication and pursuit of excellence.
