EMG/NCS Test Question
No, the fact that you didn't have symptoms at the time of the exam would not have effected study results. The study tests for nerve compression and nerve irritation as a result and if nerve compression exists the study will be positive whether or not you have symptoms at that point in time. However, EMG/NCV is a study which is operator dependent which means that getting an accurate result and diagnoses does depend on how good the person performing the study is. READ MORE

How can I stop my knee pain?
Knee pain is not a diagnosis, it's a symptom. I recommend you get your knee evaluated to determine why you have knee pain and establish a diagnosis, but in the meantime you can treat the symptom (pain) by taking over the counter medications such as Tylenol, Motrin or Aleve (per directions on the packaging) and icing your knee (put ice in a bag, put a towel on your knee and bag of ice on top; NEVER put ice directly on the skin). You can ice for 20 min 1-3 times per day depending on severity of your symptoms, until you can see a doctor. READ MORE
Can a chiropractor help with carpal tunnel syndrome?
No, generally chiropractors are trained in non-surgical treatment of the conditions of the spine. Since carpal tunnel syndrome is not related in any way to the spine, it should not be treated by a chiropractor, even if they tell you that they can treat it for you. READ MORE
I hurt my knee this morning
Based on your description you could have potentially torn something, more likely a meniscus (type of cartilage) then a ligament but still. You should see an orthopaedic surgeon and be evaluated properly and you may need an MRI to make final diagnosis and create a treatment plan. READ MORE
How long do you stay in hospital after heel surgery?

Is knee massage good for knee pain?
Knee pain can be caused by dozens of different problems. Massage by a medical professional who knows your diagnosis can be helpful. Massage by someone who does not know what your knee pain is caused by can make your pain worse. You first have to get your knee evaluated by an orthopaedic surgeon to determine the cause of your pain, who can then prescribe appropriate treatment. READ MORE
Femur related questions?
These rods generally do not need to be removed and are kept permanently. If you feel that you are having symptoms due to the rod, you need to be evaluated by an orthopaedic surgeon to see if this is a possibility and if it is then you can be indicated for a removal. Removing a rod like this can be complicated and can cause issues, such as a fracture of the femur during removal. If everything goes smoothly there should be no issues afterwards due to removal of rod and your recovery is going to be only until the skin/soft tissue heals from your removal surgery. READ MORE
Surgical question (distal bicep tendon)?
The longer you wait the more difficult the surgery will be because the tendon retracts into the biceps (up the arm) over time and will have to be fished out / extracted towards where it has to be fixed back into the bone. Over time it will start scarring into the muscle there and at some point it will become impossible to do a direct repair but this will not happen in 3 weeks (takes longer for that to happen) READ MORE

How much pain is too much in a medical boot?
Some pain is ok. I would say about 4/10 or so if fine with weight-bearing as long as when you stop weight-bearing/walking the pain goes away. If it lingers for 15+ minutes you are probably putting too much weight on it. READ MORE
When can you walk after knee cap surgery?
You can walk immediately with crutches. If you are asking when you can put weight on the leg that you had surgery on, that depends on what type of surgery you had on the knee / knee cap, but most likely you are talking about a surgery for knee cap fracture (broken knee cap), in which case as long as your leg is properly braced and is prevented from bending at the knee by the brace, you can put weight on it right away as long as the pain allows you to. What do chiropractors do for plantar fasciitis?
Technically... nothing. Chiropractors are practitioners trained in the treatment of the spine such as spinal adjustments - manipulation and physiotherapy. I have worked closely with chiropractors for the past 30 years, nevertheless it is my opinion that extremities, whether upper or lower, is not something that they should be treating aside from physician prescribed physiotherapy. What is the fastest way to heal a dislocated ankle?
Ankles generally do not dislocated without an associated fracture, and if this is the case then my answer does not apply, however answering your question, fastest way to heal a dislocated ankle would be to relocate it, preferably either within minutes of dislocation OR under anesthesia, immobilize it for 4-6 weeks in a cast or CAM walker boot and then start gentle ROM followed by physical therapy for stretching and strengthening. How do you tell if lower back pain is muscle or disc?
There is not really a way to tell them apart by the pain. MRI would be the way to see if you have disc problems. Usually disc issues will result in something called radiculopathy, which is symptoms going down one or both legs, however that is not always the case. Radiculopathy is rare with just muscle issues. So if you have radiculopathy it's more likely to be a disc problem. If you don't, there is no way to tell aside from MRI. READ MORE
