Get to know Neuroendovascular Surgeon Dr. John R. Baker, who serves the population of Virginia. Dr. Baker graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1997, giving him over two decades of experience in his field. After obtaining his Medical Degree he completed his internship with the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, followed by his Neurology Residency with the Massachusetts General Hospital. Wanting to further his training he completed his radiology, endovascular surgical neuroradiology, and vascular and critical care neurology fellowship with the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Additionally, Dr. Baker holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and neurobiology from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Baker is certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He currently practices as a Neuroendovascular Surgeon and the Head of the Neuroscience and Neurovascular Center Chesapeake Regional. He holds an expertise in neuroendovascular surgery and vascular and critical neurology. As a neurointerventionalist, his focus is on the treatment of cerebrovascular disease including acute stroke with thrombectomy angioplasty and stenting for carotid and vertebrobasilar revascularization, brain aneurysms, and arteriovenous malformations.
