Well known and respected in his industry, Dr. Nourian is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon & neck and spine specialist. He joined the doctors of Ventura Orthopedics in the Simi Valley location and currently practices orthopedic spine surgery and general orthopedics.
With more experience in spine than other specialists in his area, he has an enviable record of successfully treating the full spectrum of neck and spine orthopedic problems, including arthritis, bulging/herniated discs, degeneration, and more. He is experienced in both non-invasive and traditional procedures for the purpose of spinal restoration.

Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Nourian received his bachelor’s degree with honors in pre-med, economics, and education from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He graduated from UCLA in the top one percent of his class. From there, he attended medical school at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. He graduated with honors and was awarded Alpha Omega Alpha, a top honor society medical school award given only to the top 10% of graduates.
Following medical school, Dr. Nourian moved to New York City where he completed his internship and residency training in orthopedic surgery at the Downstate Medical Center. During residency, he was the chief resident of the orthopedic department. He then returned to Southern California to pursue a one-year fellowship in spine surgery at the San Diego Center of Spinal Disorder in San Diego. There, he specialized in the management of spinal disorders in adults and children.
Specializing in spinal disorders and treatments, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
Among his volunteer and leadership experience, Dr. Nourian has served as the Director of the Federation Tutoring Program at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA (September 2000 – May 2005), the President and Social Chair Executive Board Member of the Golden Key International Honour Society (January 2001 – June 2003), an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant at UCLA Education Department (January 2001 – June 2003), and as the President of the American Medical Student Association (September 2006 – September 2007).
In direct affiliation with his industry, he is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the California Medical Association, the North American Spine Society, and the Ventura County Medical Association.
