Get to know Family Physician Dr. Javier C. Bocanegra, who serves patients in San Antonio, Texas.

In practice since 1993, Dr. Bocanegra is a board-certified family physician at Community Family Medicine in San Antonio, Texas. He specializes in comprehensive health care for individuals of all ages.

Named a Texas Super Doctor, he is affiliated with Methodist Hospital and St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital. He is also a member of the Bexar County Medical Association.

Back in 1986, Dr. Bocanegra graduated with his medical degree from UT Health San Antonio School of Medicine. He then went on to perform his residency in family medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

With over three decades of experience in the medical field, he is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties. 

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.
