Dr. Patrick Brown is a board-certified dermatologist through the American Board of Dermatology. He is a native of Johnstown, Pennsylvania and a 12-year veteran of the United States Army.
Born in the remnants of a once great coal and steel industry in Southwestern Pennsylvania, he was a two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All American playing football at Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA. Dr. Brown obtained his medical doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine where he graduated Cum Laude and as president of the school’s medical honor society.
After finishing his one-year internship at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Brown went on to complete his residency training in dermatology at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium where he was recognized with the Major David S. Berry Outstanding Resident Award as the most outstanding resident in the entire health care system upon graduation.
Dr. Brown served as a dermatologist attached to the 10th Mountain Division in Fort Drum, NY, where he was awarded a Meritorious Service Medal. He then returned to San Antonio to teach as an Assistant Professor of Dermatology, receiving the Dr. Nicole M. Owens Distinguished Dermatology Faculty Award.
Following separation from active duty, Dr. Brown and his family made their home in Duluth, MN, where he practiced general medical, surgical, and hospital-based dermatology.
Dr. Brown’s clinical interests include medical and surgical dermatology with an emphasis on the early detection of skin cancer. He is excited to serve the West Michigan community and to be a part of the Wolverine Dermatology family!
