Post-Doctoral Clinical Psychology Residency: During residency, Dr. Gressard served as the Brigade Psychologist for 25th Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) which consisted of approximately 4,000 Service Members (SMs); created, organized and implemented a behavioral health clinic within the Aviation Medicine Clinic to include initiation of monthly collaboration meetings between treatment team members and Command teams regarding high risk SMs; conducted and coordinated treatment, intervention, case management, and assessments for the entire unit; headed a team of five post-doctoral clinical psychology residents; served as primary behavioral health consultant for the 25th CAB Command group; completed psychological evaluations, Command Directed Evaluations (CDEs), chapter separation evaluations, recommended and wrote narrative summaries (NARSUMs) for initiation of Medical Evaluation Boards; personally tracked every SM who required psychiatric hospitalization including checking on and tracking them while hopitalized, follow-up care and military disposition; actively participated in military training, social functions and physical training with the unit in order to build rapport and relationships; acted as a liaison between Schofield Barracks’ civilian-manned behavioral health clinic and unit; participated in weekly Command and Staff meetings; numerous presentations on a wide range of psychological and military specific topics to aviators, Active Duty SMs, Command, and civilian counterparts; served an average of four days per month as the On-Call Resident at Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) which included seeing numerous walk-in patients for CDEs, safety-checks, chapter separations, emergency evaluations, in-and-out processing, and frequent consultation with Commanders; approximately 4 hours of direct clinical supervision of behavioral health technicians during each on call day; participated in one hour per week of didactics; taught didactics for psychological technicians on a variety of clinical and military topics; participated in at least one hour of individual and two hours of weekly supervision through TAMC’s Department of Psychology.

Internship: Dr. Gressard worked with Active Duty military, family members, and dependents with a wide range of psychological, emotional, and complex medical issues; Worked in various clinics with many different supervisors; Individual and group counseling for SMs and their dependents; Psychodiagnostic and Neuropsychological testing; Worked with patients from 16 to 79 years of age for brief and long-term psychotherapy; Gained substantial experience with consultation, collaboration, ethics, and the specifics of being an Army Psychologist; Completion of Adult Psychology rotation which included a wide range of assessment and intervention skills including administration, scoring, and interpretation of 6 complete psychology assessment batteries, weekly individual and couple’s psychotherapy, and rotational program development tasks; Completion of Neuropsychology rotation which required a wide range of assessment tests and measures, scoring, and interpretation of 6 complete neuropsychological assessment batteries to include feedback sessions, weekly didactics, group supervision, individual supervision, and program development; Completion of a Behavioral Health and Pain rotation which required psychoeducation of patients regarding complex medical and pain conditions, interventional biofeedback, and co-facilitation of psychotherapy groups; Completion of two Primary Care rotations serving as a consult liaison and therapist for patients of the medical treatment team in Family Medicine Clinic and working with comprehensive treatment team at the Schofield Barracks Wounded Warrior Battalion; Participation in monthly ER shifts conducting intake assessments and recommendations for in-patient admission; Participation in an average of 5 hours of individual supervision and 1 hour of group supervision per week; Monthly involvement and participation in visiting professional and specialized treatment approach training.

  • Dr. Gressard gave numerous presentations on a wide range of psychological and military specific topics to aviators as well as taught didactics for psychological technicians and special forces combat medics on a variety of clinical and military topics. In addition, Dr. Gressard has given presentations to mental health providers regarding ethics, risk assessment and safety considerations, ADHD, diversity with in the US Army. Dr. Gressard presented at a regional conference on ADHD in the military.
