Get to know Family Physician Dr. Brenda K. Brown, who serves patients in Rochester, Minnesota. 

Recognized as a top family physician, Dr. Brown is affiliated with the Olmsted Medical Center in Rochester, Minnesota, which she joined in 2008. Her clinical interests include obstetrical care, newborn care, team-based healthcare, well female preventive care, and skin care; as well as treatment of diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, depression, anxiety, and thyroid disorders.

Olmsted Medical Center, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, has been southeastern Minnesota’s hometown healthcare provider since 1949. Its 168 clinicians join over 1,300 other healthcare professionals serving at over 20 locations, including two multi-specialty clinics, a Level IV trauma hospital with 24-hour emergency room, a Skyway Clinic in downtown Rochester, and 11 community branch clinics. The mission of Olmsted Medical Center is to deliver exceptional patient care focusing on caring, quality, safety, and service.

A 1994 graduate of the University of Minnesota, Dr. Brown went on to complete her residency in family medicine in 1997. Following her education, she became board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine, a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility. 

Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Brown’s hobbies include needlework, photography, and reading. She also does mission work and volunteers for Girl Scouts.
