Get to know Internist Dr. Tanya M. Phares, who serves patients throughout Nevada.

Dr. Phares is an experienced internist and preventive medicine physician with expertise in disease prevention, lifestyle medicine, and women’s health. She provides personalized care with expert advice and support to patients at Previty Health in Reno, Nevada.

Academically, Dr. Phares received her medical degree from the Western University of Health Science and completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of California, Irvine, and a residency in preventive medicine with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. She then went on to receive her Master of Public Health degree from the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, and completed a fellowship with the Centers for Disease Control.

Passionate about her profession, the doctor is triple board-certified in public health and preventive medicine, lifestyle medicine, and internal medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine, which is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease in adults.

Achieving fellowship status, she is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine (FACPM), and is certified in travel medicine by the International Society of Travel Medicine.

Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Phares has authored research papers in peer-reviewed medical journals and served on the Prevention Practice Committee for the American College of Preventive Medicine, developing national guidelines for clinical preventive services.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.

As a testament to her success, Dr. Phares has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award in 2015.
