Dr. Tetteh, a Captain in the U.S. Navy and Associate Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, has been a vital member of the MedStar Health team, where he currently serves at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. His leadership of the Specialized Thoracic Adapted Recovery (STAR) Team exemplifies his dedication to enhancing organ recovery processes and ultimately saving lives. With a focused research agenda on thoracic transplantation, Dr. Tetteh is committed to expanding the boundaries of heart and lung organ recovery.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Tetteh's academic journey is nothing short of impressive. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Plattsburgh, followed by his Doctor of Medicine from SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He further advanced his education with a Master of Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, an MBA from Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School, and a Master of Science in National Security Strategy with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence from the National War College. His surgical training includes a thoracic surgery fellowship at the University of Minnesota and an advanced cardiac surgery fellowship at Harvard Medical School’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Tetteh is the founder of Tetteh Consulting Group and a best-selling author of four influential books, including "Gifts of the Heart" and "The Art of Human Care." His dedication to the medical community is underscored by his board certifications in thoracic surgery, general surgery, clinical informatics, and healthcare management. He is a Fellow of prestigious organizations such as the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Dr. Tetteh’s accolades include the Alley Sheridan Award from the Thoracic Surgery Foundation for Research and Education and recognition as a TEDMED FrontLine Scholar. He is also an engaging TEDx speaker and a participant in esteemed writing workshops.
