Dr. Frank D. Yelian is the Founder and Medical Director of Life IVF Center. He is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist who received special fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Yelian has over 30 years of experience in the field of reproductive medicine and women’s health.
Dr. Yelian graduated from Zhejiang University School of Medicine in 1983. He then received Obstetrics and Gynecology training and earned a Master’s Degree at the same university in 1986. He then came to the United States in 1987 and worked with Dr. W. Richard Dukelow at the Endocrine Research Center at Michigan State University. In 1991, he earned a Ph.D. in Reproductive Endocrinology and embryology.

Dr. Yelian is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist who has over 30 years of experience in the field of reproductive medicine and women’s health. He is the Founder and Medical Director of Life IVF Center with locations in Irvine and Arcadia, California.
As a unique fertility center, Life IVF Center aims to provide a gentle, safe, successful, and affordable IVF option to all patients who need assisted reproductive technologies (ART). Due to the fact that each patient is different, the treatment protocol for each patient varies. Based on medical conditions and fertility treatment goals, a specific and individualized protocol for each patient is designed.
Recognized as a world expert in the field of infertility, especially in the treatment of patients with endometriosis and diminished ovarian reserve, Dr. Yelian has patients from all around the globe who come to see him at Life IVF Center.
Back in the early days of his academic career, he earned his medical degree, completed his training in obstetrics and gynecology, as well as obtained his master’s degree from Zhejiang University School of Medicine in China. He then came to the United States a year later and worked with Dr. W. Richard Dukelow at the Endocrine Research Center at Michigan State University. He earned his Doctorate degree in Reproductive Endocrinology and Embryology in 1991. Subsequently, he joined the IVF program as a postdoctoral fellow and worked as an embryologist at Wayne State University.
In 1993, Dr. Yelian performed the first intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) case in the state of Michigan. During this period, he studied embryo implantation for many years working with Dr. Randy Armant, as well as published many papers in the field of embryo implantation and human reproduction. He was promoted to Assistant Professor in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Wayne State University in 1993.
To practice clinical medicine, he received his additional residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Michigan State University. After completing his residency, he joined the Reproductive Medicine and Infertility (REI) Fellowship Program at Wayne State University.
During his fellowship from 2002-2004, Dr. Yelin had the opportunity to work with several world renowned obstetricians, gynecologists, and reproductive endocrinologists such as Dr. Roberto Romero, Dr. Kamran Moghissi, and Dr. Michael Diamond. Upon completion of his fellowship, he joined the faculty at Wayne State University as an Associate Professor. As a faculty member, in addition to research and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, he focused on assisted reproductive technologies and minimal invasive gynecological surgery. He gained extensive experience treating patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis, recurrent pregnancy loss, and premature ovarian failure.
In 2009, he took sabbatical leave to work at Kato Ladies Clinic in Japan, where he mastered the new techniques and skills of natural cycle IVF and minimal stimulation IVF. A year later, he founded Life IVF Center, which has become a premier fertility center in Southern California.
The author of over 100 publications and the recipient of numerous national and international awards, Dr. Yelian is board-certified through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada. Most recently, he was elected as the Chairman for the Chinese Special Interest Group at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
