  • How is the dentures process done?

First step as with any treatment is a thorough evaluation including a diagnostic radiograph(x-ray). Next step is impressions of upper and lower jaw to make casts(models to work from. we then bring the patient back to figure how the upper and lower jaw relate to each other and length of teeth. At the next appointment we will try in wax up of the dentures to evaluate work is corrections and make corrections. The following visit will be delivery of the dentures. READ MORE

  • What are the side effects of teeth bleaching?

Side effects may include some transient sensitivity, which may be settled with desensitizing agents. Short-term gum irritations can occur with leakage of material onto the gums if patients place too much bleach in the home trays, or if bleach leaks around the isolation in office treatment. • I was diagnosed with oral thrush?

That answer would best come from your treating clinician. Standard treatment time for oral candida or thrush is a 14-day regimen of an oral antifungal rinse. READ MORE

  • Will the pain of a chipped tooth go away?

The ultimate answer is yes. However, how long it will take and what other problems waiting for that to occur could result in, not just in that tooth but surrounding bone and possible systemic infection depend on how big the chip is. If you have pain associated with a chipped tooth the best plan of action is to see a dental professional for evaluation. READ MORE

  • Is it better to pull a tooth or get a crown?

Usually if you can save a natural tooth it is a recommended treatment. Once the teeth are removed the supporting bone resorbs over time some times quickl.y. Once bone is gone it can be very difficult and in some cases impossible to regain. READ MORE

  • How are dental cysts removed?

Quick run thru- profound local anesthesia is obtained. Access to bone tissue(jaw)is made thru gum tissue and or oral mucosa(looser tissue covering bone beyond gum tissue). Bone if covering cyst is removed making access to the cyst. The cyst is then removed using specialized surgical instruments called currettes. Now some times bone graft is placed. Surgical site is closed with sutures. READ MORE

  • Do upper dentures need adhesive?

That depends on the patient. I have a number of patients that function exremely well with their denture with no adhesive. Then there some who desire some adhesive for more security with there denture. Variables such as bone volume, tissue volume and quality and contours, saliva quantity and quality, and patient ability all contribute to stability of a denture and its function with or with out adhesive. • Are braces uncomfortable?

Most patients report some level of discomfort with braces. Most are mild levels with some taking some ibuprofen and or acetominophen with good relief of symptoms. The discomfort is common with initial placement and changing or tightening of wires. If you choose clear aligners reports are similar with initial and subsequent change in aligners. READ MORE

  • How painful is all on 4 dental implants?

The procedure itself should have no pain as the surgeon should have profound anesthesia achieved with local anesthetic. Many surgeons also offer IV sedation so you are pretty well sedated if desired.. Post op I have not heard any reports of much if any post op pain from the cases I have treated with this technique. We expect you will have some post op pain that is usually well controlled with 600mg. ibuprofen every 6 hrs with acetominophen 330-500mg every 4-6hrs for the first 3days. READ MORE

  • When can I eat chips after dental implants?

My best answer for anyone with this question is ASK YOUR SURGEON. Now, having said the most important answer, in general, I would suggest a very MINIMUM of at least 2 weeks for the simplest, most conservative of placement surgeries. It really depends from there on what the placement surgery involved. However, even with this procedure, a stray chip like a corn chip can be pretty damaging if chomped down on wrong. I once filleted my gum tissue pretty good eating a corn chip in a healthy non-surgerized mouth. So is a chip worth failure of the procedure. Four weeks is approaching a safer realm. But still, the best answer is ask your surgeon. READ MORE

  • Is it ever too late to start flossing?

If you are about to have your last teeth removed then yes. Other than that flossing is usually a good habit to start. READ MORE

  • What should a tooth extraction look like when healing?

That is a very difficult Question to answer because it is such a generic question and there are so many variables involved in tooth extraction. It is almost like asking what should a car look like. In general it might be easier to answer what it should not generally look like. In general we don't expect massive swelling, redness, bleeding and purulent exudate. Now impacted wisdom tooth extraction will obviously have more swelling possible than a more simple extraction because there is more surgical access incision and bone excising. A surgical non wisdom tooth extraction will generally have less than many wisdom tooth but more than a more simple extraction. Many simple extraction sites will have a whitish color tissue in the socket That is the clot which is just like a scab on skin gets whitish when soaked. READ MORE

  • Does drinking water help toothache?

Yes, drinking water can help a toothache if the nerve inside the tooth is hurting from inflammation inside the tooth. The cool water can reduce inflammation or gas pressure inside a necrotic tooth and reduce pain. However, cool water can hurt a tooth in which the nerve is exposed by a deep cavity. Then in some cases, drinking water will have no effect. READ MORE

  • Does teeth cleaning make teeth whiter?

Yes. Teeth cleaning will remove external stains and accretions (stuff stuck to the surface) form your teeth. How much whiter depends on your diet and home care. Some one who does not floss and brush and smokes and drinks tea and coffee will see a much greater difference than someone who brushes and flosses with a whitening tooth paste and does not smoke or drink colored drinks. It will not remove internal stains-that's where bleaching comes in. READ MORE

  • Can you get dental implants if you have full dentures?

Absolutely. There are a number of different implant solutions for edentulous (no teeth) patients with dentures. READ MORE

  • How do you stop gums from hurting after flossing?

Before that question can be answered we really need to know a little more of the why are your gums hurting when you floss. That is not a typical problem and could be indicative of an underlying issue. Healthy gums don't hurt with proper flossing so if your gums are healthy you may be flossing too harsh. If they are not healthy you need a dental exam by a dentist and treatment then the more you floss the better they will get and not hurt. Now for the immediate solution rinsing with warm salt water mix is anti bacterial and soothing for them. 1 teaspoon salt per 1/2 cup warm water is pretty close to what is termed in medicine normal saline and the best mix. • How many fillings can you have on one tooth?

Your Question is slightly vague in that it does not specify a time factor. I am going to presume you mean " how many fillings can a tooth have at one time". There are five distinct surfaces on a tooth that can have fillings. so theoretically you could have five individual fillings on one tooth. Most of the time teeth are touching so two of those surfaces require access from a different surface to fill that surface. This leaves you with possibility of four different fillings on one tooth most of the time. READ MORE

  • What are the symptoms of a dying nerve in a tooth?

Symptoms vary. Can be pain with cold and or hot moderate to severe ,many times lingering more than 30 seconds. Pain to percussion or palpation comes later in the process. Spontaneous or non stimulated pain(occurs on own). Pain with chewing. Thing to remember is pain is a late sign of problems in a tooth unless it is an acute trauma. READ MORE
