    sometimes a medicine stops working in which case increasing it wont help. Cymbalt must be weaned VERY gradually though if you are going to try a different med so be aware of that. Im wondering also if some of the depression is not over more situational factors, which med cant fix. That is more the role of therapy. So you may have two things going on here.     Depends on how chronic your anxiety is. Oftentimes treatment is ongoing indefinitely. Best approach is combo of med and therapy, not just med alone, and eventually with development of coping tools, therapy can become less frequent or as needed. READ MORE

Regarding her educational background, Dr. Tavani earned her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. She then went on to complete her internship at Christiana Care Health Services  followed by her residency in psychiatry at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Recognized as a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (DLFAPA), she is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

A member of the American Medical Association, Dr. Tavani is a past President of the Medical Society of Delaware, the Psychiatric Society of Delaware and the Medical-Dental Staff of Christiana Care Health System – the first woman to hold those positions – and of the Psychiatric Society of Delaware.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various difficulties related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders.
