Get to know General Surgeon Dr. Daryl P. Guest, who serves patients in Starkville, Mississippi.

Dr. Guest is an experienced general surgeon working alongside Dr. Roger Clapp, Jr. at Starkville Surgical Associates, LLC in Starkville, Mississippi. He is committed to providing patients with comprehensive surgical care and getting them back on their feet as soon as possible.

The procedures offered at Starkville Surgical Associates include, but are not limited to: appendectomies, gallbladder surgery, hernia repair, lung surgery, vein surgery, colon surgery, hemorrhoidectomy, skin lesion removal, ingrown toenail excision, thyroid / parathyroid surgery, colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, lipoma removal, and chemotherapy port placement. 

In addition to seeing patients at Starkville Surgical Associates, LLC, Dr. Guest is the Founder of Golden Triangle Vein Center, which he opened in 2005. He serves patients by treating spider veins, varicose veins, venous reflux, unwanted hair, and much more.

The former president of the Prairie Medical Society, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Palmer Home for Children. He is also affiliated with OCH Regional Medical Center, Winston Medical Center, and North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora.

A native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Dr. Guest received his undergraduate degree from Mississippi State University and his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Tennessee- Chattanooga, and has been in private practice in Starkville since 2001.

A Diplomate of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine, he is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Guest is a member of the American College of Phlebology, the American Society of General Surgeons, the Southern Society of Clinical Surgeons, the Mississippi State Medical Association. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the Southeastern Surgical Congress.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care.
