Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Brandon J. Shallop, who serves patients in Florida.

Dr. Shallop is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship-trained in sports medicine and arthroscopy. He practices at the Orthopedic Center of Palm Beach County, seeing patients at the offices in Lake Worth, Boynton Beach, and Wellington, Florida.

Specializing in treating athletes of all ages and abilities, he focuses on arthroscopic and open surgical techniques. He has a special interest mainly in performing quadricep tendon autograft anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using an “all-inside” dual suspensory fixation technique.

From simple sprains to highly complex surgeries, the Orthopedic Center of Palm Beach County has been serving the South Florida community for over 65 years with the finest orthopedic and podiatric care. The physicians and surgeons are each experts in their particular specialties. They provide the complete spectrum of musculoskeletal care from prevention and diagnosis to treatment and rehabilitation for every part of the body, including the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, spine, hip, knee, foot, and ankle in both children and adults.

Growing up in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan, Dr. Shallop attended the University of Michigan, graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He then attended Sidney Kimmel Medical College in Philadelphia, earning his medical degree.

Furthering his training, he went on to complete a 5-year residency in orthopedic surgery at Drexel University/Hahnemann University Hospital where he was named Chief Resident. Following the completion of his residency, he spent an additional year to attain specialized fellowship training in sports medicine at the University of Miami in Coral Gables. During that year, he trained in complex knee and shoulder procedures focusing on minimally invasive techniques and arthroscopy.

In addition, Dr. Shallop was the co-team physician for the University of Miami men’s football, basketball, and baseball teams as well as for the Miami Marlins major league baseball team. He is also trained in joint replacement surgery and fracture care.

Helping patients on their road to recovery, the doctor is board-certified through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

In direct affiliation with his industry, Dr. Shallop is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, the American Medical Association, and the International Congress for Joint Reconstruction.

Among his volunteer experience, he has served as a Founding Member of the University of Michigan Chapter – Sigma Alpha Lambda National Honors Fraternity (2008 – 2010), an active volunteer in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit of the University of Michigan Hospital (2008 – 2010), and as an active volunteer in the student-run free health care clinics of JeffHope, organized through the center city of Philadelphia (2010 – 2014). He attributes his success to his strong work ethic and the support of his family and friends.

Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Shallop enjoys golfing (having competed on his high school golf team for three years), playing basketball (having played recreationally and in intramural leagues from high school to the present), and fishing (having traveled to numerous locations worldwide and having fished both recreationally and competitively in local tournaments. He is also a loyal fan of the University of Michigan Athletics – Go Blue!
