Get to know Internist Dr. Kavita Shah Patel, who serves patients in Texas.

A well-versed internist, Dr. Patel opened her outpatient practice, The Almeda Clinic, in 2011 to begin her dream of providing comprehensive, evidence-based, compassionate care to all individuals, accepting all insurances and working with uninsured individuals. She is planning to expand her practice to Katy, opening Infinite Katy in January of 2024.

As a solo practitioner, Dr. Patel’s aim is to create the highest quality practice that is personal, professional, and above all, puts the patient first. Her goal is for her and her team to truly know every patient, and to tailor treatment to their particular needs. This personal touch is often lost in large, overly busy practices.

Over the years, she has expanded her practice to include numerous services she feels truly benefits her patients. These include flu vaccinations, convenient on-site laboratory and cardiac testing, blood pressure monitoring that communicates electronically to the practice, allergy testing, and more. Every patient has 24/7 accessibility to Dr. Shah through calls, emails, and secure texting and timely responsiveness is a top priority for the practice. Incorporating input from her patients and her team, she hopes to continue to provide comprehensive and compassionate care, listen to her patients with empathy and understanding, while offering state-of-the-art office technology and services.

Raised in Texas, Dr. Patel completed her undergraduate training at The University of Texas at Austin, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She completed medical school and internal medicine training at Baylor College of Medicine, and her chief residency in 1998.

Over the past 20 plus years, Dr. Patel has cared for critically ill patients in the acute care setting as a hospitalist at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital. She has also worked in the emergency room setting at the Veterans Affairs Hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Staying active and up-to-date on the latest advancements in medicine, her passion is preventative medicine, patient education, and the management of acute and chronic illnesses in the ambulatory setting.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.

In her spare time, Dr. Patel enjoys reading, writing, and staying active with her children and her husband, Rupal Patel, an interventional nephrologist. She is fortunate to have a large extended family, all located in Houston.
