An accomplished radiologist, Dr. Salazar is the Vice Chair of Diversity and Health Equity, and Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of North Carolina. 

Recruited from Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in 2021, her impressive resume includes a range of leadership positions at MGH spanning over 12 years, such as Outpatient IR Medical Director, Waltham Vein Center Medical Director, Fibroids Program Co-Director, Simulation and Patient Experience Officer, and Department of Radiology Quality and Safety Chair.

Before embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Salazar earned her medical degree and completed her residency in diagnostic radiology at the Universidade Federal de São Paulo in Brazil in 2001 and 2005, respectively. After relocating to the United States, she completed her fellowship in interventional radiology at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 2008.

Distinguished as a Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology (FSIR), and the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Society of Europe,  she has an extensive background in women’s health advocacy and has established herself as a subspecialty leader/expert and practitioner volunteer for underserved populations. Additionally, Dr. Salazar volunteered her services to non-English speaking COVID-19 patients during the 2020 pandemic surge in the Spanish Language Care Medical Group at MGH. Her commitment to outreach to underserved populations led her to become a faculty proctor and invited speaker at the Inaugural Society of Interventional Radiology Giveback Program in El Salvador in 2019.
