This year, more than 80,000 women will discover that they have some form of gynecologic cancer, which could affect their ovaries, uterus, cervix, vulva, vagina, or fallopian tubes. In many cases, women can take steps to prevent some types of cancer, or to detect it early enough to make a difference. URMC Gynecologic Oncology is committed to giving their patients the information they need to defy their medical history and positively influence their fate.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Wilbur earned her medical degree and Master of Public Health degree (MPH) from the Boston University School of Medicine/Public Health in 2011. She then went on to complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology and her fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2015 and 2019, respectively. While there, she received her Master of Health Science degree from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

She enjoys teaching others about health policy and physician advocacy, with the goal of minimizing disparate health outcomes for future generations. These activities align with her professional goal of being a gynecologic oncologist with a focus on underserved populations and minimizing health outcome disparities for this population.

An enthusiastic researcher, she is currently engaged in several clinical research projects focused on quality outcomes in patients with gynecologic cancers. Her clinical strength is the integration of versatile surgical skills and medical care for patients with complex psychosocial stressors. Her academic strengths are in contributing and editing research to the same end.

Gynecologic oncology is a specialized field of medicine that focuses on cancers of the female reproductive system, including ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, vaginal cancer, cervical cancer, and vulvar cancer.
