A leader in the most modern techniques in surgery, applications of technology to improve outcomes and personalized medicine including high-risk screening and genetics, Dr. Caragacianu’s approach to breast health has always been to build relationships with her patients and earn their trust. She is passionate about partnering with her patients, sharing her expertise and knowledge to help them proactively take part in deciding what is best for them. Because of this, her glowing reputation as an advocate for patients precedes her arrival at Milford Regional as does her commanding knowledge of breast and endocrine health.
Dr. Caragacianu graduated with her medical degree from the Wayne State School of Medicine. She then went on to serve her internship in general surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, and her residency in general surgery at Brown University School of Medicine. Her advanced training includes fellowships in surgical oncology at the National Cancer Institute and in breast surgery at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Medical School. She further enhanced her skills with specialized international training in Oncoplastic Surgery and Advanced Reconstruction Techniques at the L’Intitute du Sein, Paris Breast Center, Paris, France, and in Intraoperative Radiation therapy at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan, Italy.
A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the doctor is board-certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.
In direct affiliation with her industry, Dr. Caragacianu is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the American Thyroid Society, the Association of Women Surgeons, the International Society of Surgery, the International Society of Endocrine Surgeons, the International Society of Breast Surgeons, and the Society of Surgical Oncology.
