Get to know Urologist Dr. Matthew S. Tobin, who serves patients in Neptune, New Jersey. 

Dr. Tobin is a urologist serving Neptune and the surrounding communities. He founded Atlantic Coast Urology with his longtime partner Dr. Charles Bellingham. Atlantic Coast Urology is a practice offering comprehensive urologic care to their patients through the incorporation of state-of-the-art technology, advanced operative technique, unparalleled physician expertise, and a dedication to a compassionate patient-doctor relationship. 

He is the Chairman of Urology at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. He has served multiple prior roles at the hospital, including Chief of Pediatric Urology and Director of Urologic Oncology. He was instrumental in the development of a urology resident program at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

In regards to his education, Dr. Tobin earned his medical degree at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1990. He went on to complete extra training in both general surgery and urology at Harvard. During his time at Harvard, Dr. Tobin completed a combined clinical and research fellowship in pediatric urology.

Additionally, Dr. Tobin is board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology (ABU). The ABU is organized to encourage study, improve standards, and promote competency in the practice of Urology. The Board evaluates candidates who are licensed to practice medicine and arranges and conducts examinations for the purpose of certification, subspecialty certification, recertification, and ongoing maintenance of certification. 

Urology is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. As a urologist, Dr. Tobin specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases of the bladder, urethra, kidneys, penis, and prostate. 

With over 23 years of experience in the field, Dr. Tobin has treated thousands of patients. While in Boston for additional and further training, he received local and national recognition for groundbreaking research on urothelium, the specific cells that line the urinary tract.
