Get to know Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. Mariano Ezequiel Brizzio, who serves patients in Vero Beach, Florida.

An experienced cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Brizzio sees patients at the Cleveland Clinic Health and Wellness Center, Vero Beach in Florida. In practice for over 27 years, he specializes in adult cardiac surgery, aortic surgery, and cardiovascular surgery and is experienced in coronary artery disease, aortic aneurysm, adult congenital heart defects, and minimally invasive cardiac surgery including transcatheter valve therapies (TAVR).

Cleveland Clinic’s Vero Beach Health and Wellness Center is a three-story medical office complex located on the south side of the campus at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital. Physician offices and certain diagnostic procedures are provided in a calm and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.

Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Brizzio earned his medical degree from Universidad de Buenos Aires and his Doctor of Philosophy degree from Universidad del Salvador in Argentina. He completed residencies in general surgery and cardiac and vascular surgery at Complejo Medico Churruca-Visca and Instituto Sacre-Coeur, respectively. After relocating to the United States, he completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Cleveland Clinic.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic, he served as an attending cardiac surgeon at The Valley-Columbia Heart Center in New Jersey and Clinical Assistant professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Icahn School of Medicine in New York.  He is an Associate Fellow in the American College of Cardiology and a member of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, among other organizations.

Cardiothoracic surgeons are medical doctors who specialize in surgical procedures inside the thorax, which may involve the heart, lungs, esophagus, and other organs in the chest. Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Brizzio has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award (2009, 2008).
