Vitreoretinal surgeon, Dr. Sabah A. Shah currently practices with Retina Group of New York. She specializes in uveitis and vitreoretinal surgery, having extensive experience in the most sophisticated medical and surgical techniques.

Retina Group of New York holds offices in Hicksville and Hauppauge. Both locations are fully equipped with lasers, cutting-edge diagnostic imaging, and integrated electronic records. The group utilizes the latest medical equipment and computer technology to diagnose and treat a variety of retinal and uveitis problems, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, retinal detachment, macula pucker, and more.

Dr. Shah was appointed as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Albany Medical College and was awarded the Resident Teaching Award for her excellence in instructing surgical and medical techniques to residents.

Dr. Shah completed his undergraduate degree from Union College with her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Latin American & Caribbean Studies in 2006. Furthering her education, she graduated with her Master of Business in Arts in Healthcare Administration from Union University in 2010. She then graduated top of her class from Albany Medical College with her Medical Degree in 2010, giving her over two decades of experience in her field. After obtaining her medical degree, she completed her internship with New York Hospitals of Queens and ophthalmology internship at Mount Sinai Saint Lukes Hospital. She then completed his ophthalmology residency with New York University. She completed her Vitreoretinal Surgery & Uveitis Fellowship from Albany Medical Center.

Dr. Shah has published numerous papers on anti-VEGF medications including Avastin, Lucentis and Eylea, as well as procedures that are currently used by retina specialists such as retinal detachment repair and macular pucker surgery. She has presented her research, has received research scholarships and awards, and has given lectures at the national level to hundreds of physicians across the country.

To stay up to date in her field, she remains a professional member of the American Society of Reina Specialists, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, Unite for Sight Ophthalmolgy, and theshe is the founder and president and  Albany Medical College.

Dr. Shah is fluent in English, Spanish, Hindi, and Urdu, allowing her to treat patients of multiple backgrounds.

When not working, she enjoys fencing, swimming, and running.
