Get to know General Practitioner Dr. Jose A. Francia, who served patients in Washington, D.C.

As a general practitioner, Dr. Francia offers primary care for patients of all ages, and can refer patients to specialists when necessary. Prior to its closing, he was affiliated with Providence Hospital.

Providence Hospital was a 408-bed hospital located in the District of Columbia, United States. Founded in 1861 on Capitol Hill by the Roman Catholic Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, it was the longest continuously operating hospital and the last public hospital in the District.

Back in 1963, Dr. Francia graduated with his medical degree from the Far Eastern University – Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation in the Philippines. He then went on to perform his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at St. Barnabas Medical Center in 1981.

Holding over six decades of experience, he is currently licensed to practice medicine in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and West Virginia. 

In the medical profession, a general practitioner (GP) is a medical doctor who treats acute and chronic illnesses and provides preventive care and health education to patients. A GP manages types of illnesses that present in an undifferentiated way at an early stage of development and may require urgent intervention.
