What should I do after dental implant surgery?
It is always a very good idea to ask your surgeon and your restoring dentist. I suggest to rinse with warm water & salt. After 24 hours, use a soft toothbrush with little or no toothpaste, keep the area clean. Do not eat hard or irritating food like spicy salsa or acidic food. No lemon or tomatoes. Make sure you eat protein (eggs, chicken, fish). Many times, a pain medication is indicated. Ice pack in the area is a good idea (4 minutes every half hour). Make sure you check allergies before you take any medication. READ MORE

A crown that is designed properly AND the Patient takes good care by brushing correctly, flossing properly and avoiding sticky foods ,can last 30+ years. The secret is to find out what cement was used to place the crown. Some crowns are attached to the implant with a tiny screw. Most are cemented. Sometimes a permanent cement is used and in this case you may have to destroy the crown as it is almost impossible to remove without damaging the implant. If a temporary cement was used it can be retrieved. READ MORE
