Dr. Rodney P. Coe is a physician with the Retina Group of New York, who has served the community since 2011. He is a board-certified and fellowship-trained physician, with expertise in Vitreoretinal Disease and Surgery. Dr. Coe is a native New Yorker who grew up in Brooklyn, New York in a family of physicians.
The Retina Group of New York holds offices in Hicksville and Hauppauge. Both locations are fully equipped with lasers, cutting-edge diagnostic imaging, and integrated electronic medical records. The group utilizes the latest medical equipment and computer technology to diagnose and treat nearly all retinal diseases, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, retinal detachment, macular hole, macular pucker, etc.
Dr. Coe is Regis alumnus who graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Computer Science. Furthering his education, he obtained a Master of Science in Biology with a specialization in computers in biological research from New York University. He attended the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, where he obtained his medical degree and received the Excellence in Ophthalmology Award.
He completed his intern year in Internal Medicine at the storied Pennsylvania Hospital, the first hospital in the United States. He then returned to SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where he underwent rigorous training in Ophthalmology. He then completed a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Disease and Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC).
Dr. Coe is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. The American Board of Ophthalmology is an independent, nonprofit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists (eye physicians and surgeons) in the United States.
Dr. Coe has presented his research in Ophthalmology on a national level. He has also given lectures to physicians for Continuing Medical Education (CME). In addition, he has been a member of the Advisory Board for Alimera and Allergan. He has extensive expertise in the most updated diagnostic and treatment modalities for the medical and surgical treatment of diseases of the retina, macula, and vitreous.
He is a professional member of the following medical societies: American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Medical Association, American Society of Retina Specialists, Long Island Ophthalmological Society, Medical Society of the State of New York, Vit-Buckle Society. In addition, he serves on the Board for the Philippine Chinese American Medical Association. With strong roots in New York, he is privileged to share this experience with the Long Island community.
