You should use ice for inflammation in a joint. But if there is redness along with the tenderness there is concern for cellulitis (infection in the skin). You should see your physician as you may need oral antibiotics. READ MORE

A partial knee replacement can only be done if there is arthritis in only one part of the knee. If there is arthritis in two or more compartments in the knee then a total knee replacement will be needed. Sounds like it is coming from a strain in the shoulder or rotator cuff. Symptoms from the neck can radiate to the shoulder and elbow as well. What are the key dietary supplements recommended for bone health after 40?
Your calcium and vitamin D levels should be checked along with magnesium and thyroid levels. All can contribute to weakening of bones. If you have a family history of early osteoporosis, then you should consider a DEXA scan as well. Supplement no more than 600 mg of calcium a day and 1000 IU of vitamin D3 a day.
