Marcus A. McFerren, MD, PhD, FAAD, is a seasoned dermatologist who diagnoses and treats patients at The Derm Group in Orange, CT, where he serves as Medical Director. Furthermore, Dr. McFerren is currently on the teaching staff at Danbury Hospital and is an attending dermatologist at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT. As a dermatologist, he specializes in the surgical and medical management of diseases related to skin, hair and nails and some cosmetic problems. Dr. McFerren's journey in the dermatology arena spans eleven years following the completion of his dermatology residency. His clinical interests cover nail disease and surgery, medical and procedural dermatology, unique disease presentations in ethnic skin, cosmetic neuromodulators, such as Botox, and dermal fillers, immunomodulatory therapies for the treatment of psoriasis, as well as alternative and complementary/botanical therapies. Dr. McFerren offers a multitude of services, including laser resurfacing, dermatologic surgery, medical dermatology, pediatric dermatology, dermal fillers, laser hair removal, BOTOX®, Dysport®, XEOMIN® & Jeuveau®, as well as treatments for contact dermatitis, skin cancer, acne, eczema, and psoriasis.

Relating to his education, Dr. McFerren is a graduate of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University and holds a Doctorate degree from the Cornell University Department of Plant Biology. He completed his residency in dermatology at the Yale University School of Medicine, and his training in internal medicine at Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Subsequent to his training, he attained board certification in dermatology through the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. McFerren has held faculty appointments at the Cornell Center for Complementary and Integrative Medicine, Swarthmore College, and Downstate Medical Center. He is currently on the teaching staff at Danbury Hospital.
Due to his unique expertise in both botany and dermatology he is a frequent national and international lecturer on the beneficial and injurious effects of plants and plant products on the skin. He has previously received the Elle Magazine Genius Award for his contributions to cosmetic dermatology, and has written numerous scientific articles and book chapters.
In his current capacity, Dr. McFerren is an active member of the greater New Haven community as a coach for the Northeast Flag Football League. He is also a member of LEAP for Kids Executive Board.
