Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Luis A. Pagan-Carlo, who serves patients throughout the State of Minnesota.

Dr. Pagan-Carlo is a board-certified cardiologist who practices at AllinaHealth Lakeville Clinic in Lakeville, Minnesota, and the Minneapolis Heart Institute at its locations in Hutchinson, Morris, and New Ulm, Minnesota. He has special interests in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, general cardiology, and transesophageal echocardiography. 

Committed to providing world-class care that promotes a healthier life, he maintains a hospital affiliation with Abbott Northwestern Hospital and is on staff at Lake Country Medical Group. 

Moreover, he is the Founder of Avyscoer Freelance in Savage, Minnesota, a startup company that offers digital cardiac consultation and remote Imaging interpretation, as well as production, distribution, and marketing of sonic Boost, among others. 

Throughout his academic career, Dr. Pagan-Carlo earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1991. He then served an internal medicine residency at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in Minneapolis, Minnesota (1991-1994). He pursued a cardiovascular fellowship at the University of Iowa, which he completed in 1997. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering acquired in 1985 at Boston University, as well as a Master of Science degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering received in 1990 at Penn State University.

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Professionally, Dr. Pagan-Carlo has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and has successfully lectured at a number of medical symposia. A member of the American Heart Association and the American Medical Association, he attained the coveted title of Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).

In his spare time, Dr. Pagan-Carlo is a board member of the Minnesota Opera and Theater Latte Da. He speaks several languages, including English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
