Throughout his academic career, Dr. Pagan-Carlo earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1991. He then served an internal medicine residency at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in Minneapolis, Minnesota (1991-1994). He pursued a cardiovascular fellowship at the University of Iowa, which he completed in 1997. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering acquired in 1985 at Boston University, as well as a Master of Science degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering received in 1990 at Penn State University.
Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Professionally, Dr. Pagan-Carlo has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and has successfully lectured at a number of medical symposia. A member of the American Heart Association and the American Medical Association, he attained the coveted title of Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).
