A 1982 graduate of the University of Calcutta Medical College in India, Dr. Bhanja went on to further his training in the United States, completing his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in 1990 and 1992, respectively.
Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in hematology, medical oncology, and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
In order to remain at the forefront of his challenging field, he is an active member of several professional societies and associations, including the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Medical Association, the Indo-American Cancer Association, the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, the American Society of Hematology, and the Ohio State Medical Association.
