Dr. Michael Sabia is a pain management specialist and a Cooper University Physician. He believes in adopting a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of both acute and chronic pain. Dr. Sabia utilizes all available resources to address pain, including interventional techniques, physical therapy, acupuncture, medical management, and other modalities.
Dr. Sabia's primary focus is on acute and chronic cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine pain caused by disc disease. As the Division Head at the Cooper Pain Management Center, he oversees a team of physicians, APNs, residents, fellows, and office staff. Additionally, Dr. Sabia has initiated an ACGME-accredited Multidisciplinary Pain Medicine Fellowship Program at Cooper. This program provides residents with the necessary training to become board-certified pain medicine physicians. The ACGME accreditation ensures that all types of pain are treated, and state-of-the-art interventional pain management procedures are performed.
Dr. Sabia holds positions in the Departments of Anesthesiology and the Pain Management Center at Cooper University Health Care. He is recognized as the Division Head of Pain Management and a Pain Medicine Specialist. Furthermore, he serves as an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. Dr. Sabia is board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in both Anesthesiology - General and Pain Management. He is fluent in both English and Spanish, allowing him to effectively communicate with a diverse range of patients.

As the Division Head of the Pain Management Center at Cooper University Health Care – Voorhees Campus, Dr. Sabia oversees a team of physicians, APNs, residents, fellows, and office staff. He also started an ACGME-accredited Multidisciplinary Pain Medicine Fellowship Program at Cooper, ensuring that residents receive the proper training to become board-certified pain medicine physicians.
In regards to his educational background, Dr. Sabia received his medical degree from the New York Medical College Fifth Pathway Program, before completing his residency in anesthesiology at Cooper University Hospital. Later, he completed his fellowship in pain medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center.
Board-certified in both pain medicine and anesthesiology, the doctor is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology.
On a professional level, Dr. Sabia is a member of several medical societies, including the American Academy of Pain Management, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the New Jersey State Society of Anesthesiologists, the Camden County Medical Society, the Society of Academic Anesthesiology Associations, the Medical Society of New Jersey, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and the Beta Beta Beta Honorary Society.
